The UK Research and Innovation Transforming Construction Challenge, delivered by Innovate UK, completed in March. This concluded over 4-years of innovation activity to transform productivity and performance of our built environment.
The Challenge covered a whole range of sectors and approaches, from digital tools to improve information flow, factory-built rail bridges, kit-of-parts schools and state of the art office buildings. New housing and performance were core elements of the Challenge with tools delivering quick, affordable and scalable measurement of housing energy performance, open IoT platforms for residential monitoring and new disruptive value-based funding models for housing.
