BPN Development Director, David Adams is very busy with the Future Homes Hub producing guidance for housebuilders on the new building regulations Part F L O & S which also makes reference to building performance. More significantly, he is working to develop a FHH BPE workstream which he will co-chair together with Peter Clennell of Persimmon PLC.
Delivering ‘as built’ performance was highlighted as an issue back in the Zero Carbon Hub days but there has been relatively little progress in addressing the issue over recent times. The Future Homes Hub, in conjunction with the BPN, are establishing a workstream to take this agenda forward. Building on the BEIS SMETERs work, the ambition is to establish a multiyear program with a view to establishing, and demonstrating, agreed BPE methodologies, within a new build homes context, which may be undertaken by homebuilders and their adoption rewarded within building regulations. Over the next few weeks David will be seeking input from BPN Members. It is intended that a few BPN Members will join the BPE Workstream steering group and we also aim to establish a wider group of interested BPN Members to meet at an appropriate frequency to provide a sounding board and a broader source of expertise. Please contact Laura if this is of interest.
