Future Buildings Standard and letter to MHCLG

The BPN has been working closely with colleagues from LETI (London Energy Transformation Initiative), the Good Homes Alliance (GHA), RIBA and CIBSE among others to produce a common response to the recent MHCLG Consultation on the Future Buildings Standard – a key piece of new legislation covering new energy and ventilation standards.

The BPN was among 21 NGOs and institutions who signed an Open Letter to the Permanent Secretary at MHCLG on 13th April 2021, demanding operational energy use as a key regulated metric and the use of wider POE methods. Alongside this, a BPN response was submitted, which stressed the need to regulate measurements in use for the predicted building performance requirements set out in Part L and Part F.

We eagerly await MHCLG’s response!
